It looks like this http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/230269/how_to_make_a_plastic_soda_pop_bottle.html?image=85038&cat=32

I know pretty much what not to put in it but what should I put in it.

Can I put paper in it?

  1. You can put eggshells, coffee grounds, tea bags (remove the string first) fruit and veggie peelings. Newspaper will also break down. You need a good mixture of things though, so I wouldn't use too much space in that container for paper. Good luck =)

  2. Paper is ok, but keep in mind that a compost unit that small will take a LONG time to break down, no matter what you put into it.    Compost bins, piles, and windrows, the larger the better, retain heat better, causing organic matter to break down faster.  If you get too small, it will still break down but vermiculture (worms, especially redworms) will do a better job.  Vermiculture needs a different type of environment than composting.  It's easy to learn about both composting and vermiculture through web searches.
