He makes his decision by tomorrow so there's not enough time for me to do a handwritten thank you note.

  1. Follow-up is critical. It is an opportunity to build upon your first impression. Many companies wait for your follow-up, and eliminate anyone who fails to do so.

    Follow-up letter:

    Within 1-2 days of interview

One typed page expressing appreciation for their time and restating your interest in the job with a brief recap of how your qualifications meet the needs of the company. Close with another statement of your strengths and your belief that you can perform the job successfully.

Be sure to show appreciation for the interview, a continued interest in the company, willingness to answer more questions, a positive attitude, and include any additional requested information.

    Dear Dr. Nagle,

I want to thank you very much for interviewing me yesterday for the associate engineer position. I enjoyed meeting you and learning more about your research and design work.

The interview strengthened my enthusiasm for the position and interest in working for Casey. I believe my education experiences fit nicely with the job requirements and I’m certain I could make a significant contribution to the firm over time.

I would like to reiterate my strong interest in the position and in working with you and your staff. You provide the kind of opportunity I seek. Please feel free to call me at the telephone number listed above if I can provide you with any additional information.

Again, thank you for the interview and for your consideration.

    Sincerely,

  2. Why on earth would you send an e-mail or even write a note?  There is no need to thank the interviewer.  This is business.

  3. Just thank them for taking the time to meet with you and allowing you the chance to meet you in person.
