Question:

What should I put inside clear glass Christmas ornament favours?

We are having a late November Christmas theme wedding and I found a great deal on clear glass ball ornaments (144 for under $50). We are going to put ribbon on them for hanging with a tag that will be the place card for each guests seat.

I don't really want to put our names or date on them because people don't need to remember our wedding forever with a Christmas decoration, I want them to be able to just put a beautiful ornament on their tree.

But they are just clear glass, any ideas what to put inside them that might reflect a love theme and be Christmasy? I know it's easy to squirt paint inside them, but I don't want to do that idea (I did that at girl guides when I was 12).

  1. You could put green and red christmas M&M's in them that they could enjoy that day, but for something to last i would say maybe some green, red, white, gold (whichever colors you're using in the wedding) confetti string to place in them. And if you wanted you could find the glue that dries clear and rub it along the inside and put just a little bit of colored glitter and shake it around to have a sheer color that sparkles in the ornament. i think all of these ideas would be cute!

  2. How about Red Hearts and green Tree confetti, and maybe stuff it with some pretty ribbon, so there's something solid filling up the place....

    One idea is :

Or, can you fill it up with water, so the confetti can drift around like a snow globe.

I like this one too, you could add little hearts to it too:

You could also personalize each one as a place setting, something like this:

Or, print a small pic (of you?) like this:

Here's more ideas I found on google:

(I really like this, but without the tinkerbell, of course)

  3. glue and glitter or confetti

candies (hard not to melt like mints)

xmas in a globe like small fake trees, little mini presents or santas

    snow flakes

  4. Here are directions for painting the ornaments.  These look really pretty, but I have heard the process is not easy.  I believe the key is making sure the ornaments are cleaned & dried first.

  5. get some fake holly and put it in there... take the berries off and replace them with little red hearts

  6. you could slide in some garland in alot of different colors.

  7. Putting some christmas potpourri inside - with mini pinecones, etc. You don't want it so much for smell obviously since you don't have the ornaments with the little holes, but just for the decorative value.

Or using enamel paint pens, to decorate on outside -

  8. If you plan on havign them hang on your guests tree, try for something sparkly to catch the lights on the Christmas tree. One thing that works nicely is the metallic icile tinsel that drapes over the tree boughs. I would suggest two entwined hearts or a nice verse about love on the outside glass in a contrasting color (perhaps a wedding color?) and iridescent or metallic iciles inside to reflect the light.

    Tinsel:

    Hope this helps, good luck!!!

  9. confetti or shreds of colored paper

  10. What about putting in some miniature dried or fake flowers?  You could even possibly try to find the flowers or colours you're using for your wedding, which would be a nice reminder for the guest without being too prominent (like names/dates).

What about romantic spots in nature (perhaps some winter photos of those places?) printed onto a transparency film and inserted into the ball like so: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_cds/...

  11. Large sparkly white snowflake with a sliver heart in the center of it.

A snowman and a snow woman embracing with sparkly snow at their feet. (this one might be hard if you're making it yourself)

That's all I have for now, if I think of anything else I'll let ya know!
