What should I read, watch or listen to, to prepare for general knowledge questions when applying for medicine?

I have just started my A level year and am studying Chemistry, Biology, Maths and German, I am hoping to study either law or medicine at university. My only problem is that these courses are highly competitive and although I am likely to acquire the required grades, I have been told that a little general knowledge is necessary for the interview part of the application and that I should start preparing for this as soon as possible, therefore I would like to hear any recommendations as to what I should doing to prepare myself.

Thank you!

Also if anybody knows would speech and drama, setting up a chess club and having a job be enough extra curriculars?

  1. Hey,

Good choice of A levels! Perhaps for law though, you should do politics, economics or history? Or try and read around those subjects. I can't help you much with law, except reading the newspaper daily and keep up to date with all the political and perhaps economical news.

Im applying for veterinary medicine, so I can help you more with that section. Try reading the issue of 'The New Scientist' weekly and the 'Biological Science Review'. Keep up to date with medical ethical issues and keep up to date with the release of new drugs on the market and drug companies etc.

    Hope this helped!
