  1. If you go for a cell phone, make sure it's with prepaid cards . You do not want to sign any sort of contract.

  2. A cell phone will, if you go with a monthly plan, cost you a certain amount of money every month. I went with the cheapest plan I could for my needs, and I pay a total of almost 40$ a month.

You may want to check into something like Koodo or Virgin Mobile if you make only a few calls, that's the best option if you don't make very many calls. If you DO then you'll have to consider a contract, which as I said can be expensive.

I'd go with the video camera. I love my cell phone but I am chagrined at how much money it costs me per month. I am actually in the process of writing an article about the pros and cons of getting a cellphone with a contract on http://www.btgnow.net

    Good luck!

  3. you can answer that question yourself.  the cell phone comes with a monthly bill attached.  do you have a job to pay the bill, if not buy the camera.

  4. I would go with, which ever one you would use more.  That way you really get your money's worth.

Personally, I think I would go for the cell phone.

  5. Difference is that, with a cell phone, you also have to buy the plan so that you can actually use it.  It will be an ongoing monthly expense, unless someone else is paying your bill.  With a video camera, you just have to buy the storage media (tapes, storage disks, etc.) once in a while.  Personally, I would save up for the thing that's going to add the most convenience and/or fun to my life.
