Question:

What should I say when cold calling to help my candidate?

Here's what I'm saying now:

"Is Mrs. X home?

I'm a volunteer with the Z campaign. Can he count on your vote this Tuesday or do you need help on any issues?"

I'm fine once I get into a conversation with people, but I hate the awkward first few seconds when I'm bothering a complete stranger. Is what I'm saying good or should I change it? Any tips for doing this?

  1. Solar Power jobs would available if you vote for My candidate  My candidate is in favour of Solar Power as a clean alternitive to fossil fuels. My candidate will provide Factory level Solar Power to incorporate it into Our economy and prevent Global Warming by doing so.My client also stands for more money for education in colleges, and schools. How to you fell about war are you oppossed to The Iraq War, You are ., Well My candidate is running on an Anti-War platform. Do you feel the best way to end The Iraq War is to go Solar. My candidate feels that if Iraq went Solar as well this could end The War. If you feel this way as well My candidate could see that this happens.

  2. I was hooked into listening by an old lady who said "Did you know . . ."

  3. You sound to scripted.

You need to bring an issue or they are not going to respond.

    Like this:

"Hello, may I speak with Mrs. X?"

"Hi Mrs. X. I hope your day is going well. My name is X (always, always introduce yourself so you sound like a PERSON...) and I'm just a volunteer with the Z campaign getting the word out about Campaigner X. A lot of Americans have been worrying about the economy and the price of gas, but Campaigner X is going to take action and do X and X ... blah blah blah"

    The main points are:

DON'T give the person time to talk. YOU do most of the talking.

DO just bring out the issues without being asked.

DO act like a volunteer and not a paid advertiser like you are acting.

  4. What would Carlos Mencia say?

  5. 1.  My name is _____.  I am calling as a volunteer for the _____campaign.  We hope we will have your vote Tuesday.  It is very important for our Country that you participate.  Please join your fellow Americans at the voting place tomorrow.

    2. If you need transportation, or information about where to go, tell me and let me try to find someone that will help you in those regards.

  6. Don't care what you say, since I don't answer those kind of phone calls any way.
