  1. Depends on what you want to teach.  Elementary: Liberal Studies with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.  Middle and High:  Degree in the area you want (i.e. Chemistry, Spanish, etc...) and a single subject teaching credential.  At least that's how it goes in CA

  2. Hi, Morphine.  Basic degree either in humanities or science subjects.  Then you can join any college of education to complete a certificate of degree course of education.  Besides these, you require desire to teach and dedication in the interest of your students.  Good luck!

  3. Look up the Department of Education's website in your state.  ALL of your answers for teacher certification are there as they vary by state.

All of the other answers say to get a Bachelor's degree in Education.  This is NOT required, it's simply one way to go.  You can actually get a degree in any subject, and then go on to teach SECONDARY school (varies by state though) in that subject.  An example, a degree in English will allow you to teach English in a Secondary school (obviously after receiving your teaching license which is additional coursework after your degree, usually!).

I would look for programs that offer a Bachelor's degree in combination with a Teaching License.  They are usually 5 year programs, but there are some available and vary by state.  I did the bachelor's, then a year and half for my license.  You can also get your degree, then look for a Masters and Teacher License combination as well, I have seen these at various state universities.  Good Luck!

  4. You need to look for a bachelors in education.

I am currently attending Ashford university to get a bachelors of social science with a concentration in Education. The whole school is online and its great for a busy adult!  They are awesome with helping you with financial aid too!

Some states also allow you to become a teacher with just a certificate. Look into your states teaching certification.

    best of luck!

  5. Yes - a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

You'll also have to go through a teacher certification phase.

Go to your nearest College website and look at their Education/Teacher Certification requirements.

  6. In the US, yes there are teaching degrees, but requirements differ from state to state.  You will want to look for either "secondary education" (junior and high school), and you will have to pick what subjects you want to teach, or "elementary education" (elementary & middle school).  You will probably also need a state license, which you should learn about before you graduate with your degree.  Colleges that offer these degrees usually have an education department, so it should be pretty easy to find.

Here's a link to the Education Department of my alma mater.
