Question:

What should I set my stance width on burton royale 158?

I set up my burton royale 158 with the bindings on the default holes which I believe are the widest. It measured 21'' with a 1inch setback. My problem is I want to make it narrower to 20'' and since burton has the 3 hole pattern on the bindings I have to move the front back or the rear forward 1''. I cant adjust the bindings 1/2'' each. So what I did was move the front binding back 1''. With this setup I now have a setback of 2''. Is this too much setback? Should I put the front binding back up and move the back binding up and have no setback? I mainly freeride but would like to start progressing to jumps and some switch.

  1. Having your bindings set back is a pretty normal stance for riding powder and just in general.  2" isn't a huge set back either.

Park boards generally are fairly symmetrical so that you can ride switch more easily.  When you start getting into park you might want to try moving your bindings to the middle but for now they should be just fine set back how they are.
