I go to the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign and am double majoring in Accounting and Finance. For my finance degree, I can specialize in either Corporate Finance or Investments. What should I choose?

  1. Not trying to be mean or anything but your odds of becoming an investment banker without attending an ivy-league or top 10 business school is slim to none.

Also the firms will care very little about your undergrad major, to become an investment banker an MBA is a necessity.

So get which ever degree you think can land you a strong job out of college and then work at that job for 4 years or so with a strong level of promotion.

After this time take the GMAT and apply to a top MBA program (top MBA programs require at least 4 years of full time work expirence)

If you make it in to one of these schools you will have a pretty good shot at making it as an IB.

  2. Investments. This way if your change your career choice you still have a marketable degree and the knowledge to increase your own personal worth.
