Question:

What should I use to 'seal' a stump?

We recently had a large maple cut down and the stump is in the middle of a decorative area. I'd like to use the stump as a sort of platform and I don't want it to rot now that it's an 'open wound' so to speak. Is there a sealant or paint I can buy that will help with that?

  1. Any paint will do to seal it.  Don't worry about whether its harsh, its a stump. If the tree has been newly felled you may have some sap oozing out the cut. That can make a bit of a mess for you.

  2. What little I've read dear is any latex paint is good.....cause the tree is like us......likes water...........and some of the other paints are a bit harsh...........all the best

  3. any paint will do
