  1. Bacitracin Ointment, it is a first aid aintbiotic to help prevent infection.  It is sold over the counter or a prescription strength.

  2. Keep the stitches clean and dry. DONT MESS WITH THEM. If they get dirty and you have to clean them for any reason use betadine (the yellow looking stuff the doctor puts on your skin before he put the stitches in). keep a bandage around them for about a week! (do not use large band aids, the glue will irritate your skin. use an ace bandage and change the pad under the ace bandage twice a day, be sure to put antibiotic ointment on the bandage before you put it on your skin. Put the ointment on the pad and then on your skin. do not put the ointment directly on your skin from the container. You can contaminate the container. once the wound starts to close let some air get to it.

Good luck with the healing process of your stitches! I know how much they suck!

  3. Hydrogen peroxide.

  4. where are the stiches? some anti infectious solutions can be very drying or even irritating and can sting. I would just keep the area clean, pat it dry with a dry wash cloth or towle dry and put a gause bandage over it if possible. I've used both witch hazel or neopsorin on stitches and did just fine. if you see signs of infection call your doctor for help.
