  1. What it was used for prior (clean home enviroment or dirty schools, offices or travel) this will tell you how much it was used.

What resolution it has 480i,480p,720i,720p,1080i,1080p. They get better torwards the right.

Also what hookup they have a

    standard RCA (yellow plug in)

    S video

    Component(blue green red)

    VGA(computer monitor hook up)

    HDMI (newest HD connector)

they get better down the list.

Make sure you test it and if it comes with a screen that the screen is in imaculate condition, a small discoloration or scratches will show up and ruin the image, you can always get projector paint for a wall (sand it and get the primer too)

If you are getting a used one try it first and get the mount for it too if you are mounting it on the ceiling as the can be expensive.

  2. in addition to above one of the most important thigns....(in my opinion) when i bought mine was the contrast ratio and the lumens....the lumens is how bright the picture will be....the larger the number then the broghter the picture...keep in mind where and when u will watch it....will it be bright in that room?....sun coming into view?...then the contrast will say how dark ur darks will be and how white the whites will be....two very important features when looking for a projector...i got a dell.....u can check there....reasonable prices and greast products....very happy with mine....good luck hope this helps ya

  3. In addition to the above.

Look for a review, of the model you are interested in, on the internet. Check audio/ video magazine websites and see if they have the projector tested and rated.

    Home Theater

    Sound and Vision

    Electronic House

Audio revolution is a web magazine

Audioholics.com is another good one. They test out alot of stuff.
