Question:

What should I wear at my wedding?

I am doing the whole courthouse marriage thing. We choose this option because 1) if we wanted to have a wedding, our whole families would want to go and I tend to get shy around people I do not know (like half of his family) 2) neither of us wanted a big wedding and 3) we wanted to spend the money on a nice honeymoon, which we did. We are going on a Disney Honeymoon.

I was thinking of a dress, but I don't want the whole full blown wedding dress thing. I want something dressy and nice. I want to look bride-like, but not full-blown. I hope that makes sense. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

  1. Definitely a long gown, maybe something in a satin. Lots of dresses have small trains on them. And wear a veil, that will bring the bride look. Try some of these. They are simple yet classy and add the veil and your the perfect bride.

  2. There are very nice white/ivory suits that can be worn for your special day. Add Pearls and nice white/ivory shoes and stockings. Then after the services you have a very nice suit you can wear again. If this is not your first wedding try a light grey or blue . Good luck.

  3. Department stores are great. Macy's and Nordstroms have a good online selection. The bridal collections there are much more casual and very nice; no puffy lace or giant bows. The best part is you can easily get it shortened and wear again. Good luck and congrats!

  4. You can still wear a bridal dress...and make your fiance wear a nice suit, too...

  5. A nice tailored suit is a classic wedding outfit for the non-big-white-dress crowd. A tea length afternoon dress (that is, one that isn't too strappy) is also sweet and very appropriate. I suggest you stay away from sun dresses or super s**y cleavage-y disco dresses that will make you look like a gold digger. Keep it classy for a day wedding in the courthouse.

    good luck!

  6. Get a nice white cocktail dress!  :) That way it's not long and cumbersome and you'll look cute but still be in "bridal colors".

Have fun at Disney!  That's where we went on our honeymoon too. :) It was a lot of fun.

  7. I would just get a white dress that is simple.  I think that white always looks bridal.  Congrats!!

  9. You can still find a nice white dress to wear that isn't actually designed as a wedding dress. Look for untraditional wedding dresses or maybe a white cocktail style dress. If you want something nicer you could even look for something akin to a white bridesmaid dress or prom dress.
