What should I wear to horse training...?

I am learning how to jump soon I was wondering if there was anything I should wear besides jeans. my book says not to wear jeans during riding a horse because it rubs on your legs. so what should I wear...?

  1. Breeches and tall boots if you have them/can afford them, otherwise paddock boots with half chaps are nice for schooling. Some riders wear full chaps, but they are a bit pricey for someone just starting out.


  2. You could just wear jeans with paddock boots and some half chaps to stop the rubbing. I had a jumping lesson in a jumping saddle on a 17.2 hand high thoroughbred going over a metre wearing just jeans and normal paddock boots and i was fine besides a few red marks on my legs :) nothing to painful.

  3. If you're ready to move up to jumping, you're getting into pretty serious territory. Time to loose the jeans. Breeches are far more structured for your position in a saddle, will not rub you, and will offer you a much more dynamic feel. Jeans are designed for standing up, while breeches are designed for a riding position. I would start riding in breeches as you are now for a while, then step up to jumping. And have fun!
