Question:

What should I wear to my friend's October wedding? Do I have to match my boyfriend?

Here's the problem...

My friend is getting married on October 29th... I was thinking of buying a baby pink strapless dress that comes up above the knees... is pink an okay color for October? Do you have to dress colours appropriate to the season?

BUT!! She is having 1-3 brides maids... her sister is the maid of honor and wearing a pink dress, so I'm assuming so will the other brides maids. Does this mean definitely no pink?

Finally... my boyfriend plans on wearing a black suit with a dark gray dress shirt and a light gray DKNY tie, do I have to match him like at a kid's prom or something? Or can I dress totally different (but still formal)?

Thanks so much! Definite 10 points.

  1. You don't have to match your boyfriend. As long as you both stick to the dress code (ie both wear formal clothes if it's a formal wedding), you'll be fine.

You don't have to wear particular colours in particular seasons. It is ok to wear pink even if the bridesmaids are wearing pink but if it were me I would probably ask what pink the bridesmaids are wearing. If they're wearing baby pink I personally would go for a different dress as I wouldn't want to look as though I was a part of the bridal party! If it's another shade of pink you should be fine. But that's just me. I don't think you'd be stepping on any toes wearing pink as long as they aren't wearing exactly the same dress (which is pretty unlikely).

You could always differentiate yourself with different coloured shoes, cardigan, accessories.

  2. try pearl jewelry. they will show your feminine.~~~

  3. Pink for a wedding in October? I wouldn't do it.

You don't have to match, but I would wear something more like this:

  4. Pink compliments gray very well, so don't worry about it. As long as the bride doesn't mind your dress being pink, and you don't have too much leg showing, it should be fine.

  5. Lol, No you dont have to dress in october colors if you dont want to.

But i think pink would look really cute. Dont worry about the brides maid dresses. It will just show you had a great opinion too. =)

It would be cute if you and your boyfriend matched but it doesnt really matter.

Pink and grey will look cute together as well.

    Hope i helped.

  6. I would say match your boyfriend. You could wear pink but match your boyfriend.

  7. probably no pink. and def. not white. instead of matching the season pick something that compliments your coloring. go for more saturated colors. they look better. and no you don't have to match your bf

  8. There are no colours that are "off limits" at a wedding except for white.  And you don't have to match your boyfriend in colours, but you should both look formal.  It's not your wedding, don't worry about matching him.

And you can wear pink even if the bridesmaids are in pink too.  You don't know if the colour you want will be the exact colour, and lots of guests won't know what colour the bridesmaids are in, so they might wear pink.  It's a popular colour, you shouldn't worry.

Just be sure that what you are wearing is formal enough and the colour/your boyfriends suit shouldn't matter.

  9. you do not have to match your boyfriend, i actually think that would be silly.

wear whatever you like best, if you want to wear a pink dress you can.
