What should I wear to my friends cocktail party for her 16th birthday?

My friend is having a cocktail party for her 16th birthday and I don't know what to wear. I'm thinking of a cute, shortish dress, but otherwise I don't know. Should I wear heels? What jewelry? How should I do my hair?

I need ideas!!!

DRESS: Black short dresses are the most perfect dress for a cocktail party... a short tube-like dress...or white one would be eye-catching!

HEELS: Yes, wear heels is a must for a cocktail party because its a formal party! Match your shoes with your dress ONLY if you have an accessory (like a clutch or bracelet) that's eye-catching

JEWELRY: A nice designed bracelet would fit perfectly but has to have a color that's eye-catching and bright to help make the outfit well-styled. I also recommend long dangling earrings that has a diamond or such on the bottom end.

HAIR: If you have long hair put it down and have your hair wavy...but if you have medium length you should still have it but only have the bangs showing AND the front hairs

I was going to add a hairstyle and a purse but I didn't have enough room. You should wear one of those dresses and heels with pearl jewelry and wear your hair down in soft, natural curls and have a small black clutch purse, maybe jewelled. Have fun at the party!

I would wear a shot black dress with tall black heels. And I'd wear my hair in an up-do. Then for jewelry I would just have a necklace and maybe some nice post earrings.

A short black dress, either strapless or spaghetti straps is appropriate for the occasion. Heels are mandatory with the dress!

I would wear whatever short dress you have, maybe 3 or 4 inches above your knees.. Black, White or Grey would be great.

for cocktail parties, you need to know that this is a very formal event. wear a cocktail dress, either a black tube dress or a halter will do fine. don't wear white because you'll look like a bride, trust me. wear same colored heels and a bracelet, earings, necklace. you're hair if long should be down and wavy
