What should I wear to the barbecue the next day?!?!?

I am getting married in a small ceremony on a Friday and having a small reception dinner that night at a restaurant in town (about 20 people will attend both). The next day (a Saturday) we are having a "congratulations" barbecue at his parent's home and inviting the people you would normally invite to a reception (about 200-250 guests). This was our compromise with the parents for getting the intimate ceremony/reception that we really wanted and the "let's show them off" party our parents wanted.

Anyways, my question is, what should I wear at the barbecue the next day?? I shouldn't be in my wedding dress, right?? Maybe just a nice sundress since it's a barbecue? Could it be white?

I would wear a dressy shirt and jeans, maybe. Don't wear your wedding dress. I think that you should dress as you normally would to a barbecue.

I wore a blouse and skirt.  My dh wore his suit without the jacket.  You can wear whatever you want. A sundress would be cute and white would be nice.  Get something that looks good on you because there will be photos from that day as well as from your wedding.

Wear a white sundress...Doesn't matter what you wear just be comfy.

Go for a simple white sundress, have your hair and make up done pretty and some simple jewellery with a pair of nice strappy shoes.

BTW, love the idea what you are doing for your wedding, I have been trying to come up with how to do our wedding as we dont want a big flash thing and youve hit the nail on the head!

for sure not your wedding dress. i dont know about white either, only because BBQ and white dont go together. are you decorating. say if you are doing purple and green. you can wear purple. just an idea. congrats

A nice sundress sounds beautiful. It could be white or any colour really - just so you look happy and a little bit dressed up. Nothing over the top with hair or make-up though, just light neutral make-up and hair down in waves or something would be perfect. The main thing is for you to be happy and comfortable, but also looking great in the many photos that people will take.

Find a cute white cotton sundress that might 'mirror' the cut of your wedding dress and wear that with sandals.  I would put some flowers in your hair and have fun!!!
