What should I wear when I visit Bahrain? ?

I plan to visit my spouse while he's on deployment in Bahrain. I plan to do some shopping while I am there. I know that modest dress is stressed when you leave the base. But to me and to the people of Bahrain those are to different things? For example: to me modest is a short sleeved shirt or t-shirt with a pair of jeans. Can anyone who is familiar with that part of the world tell me what is appropriate for women to wear? Do I have to cover my hair with a scarf? Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Bahrain is liberal and has no dress code, just like the UAE...

Church and state are drifting apart in Bahrain.

Dress like you would in Boston on a summer day, and nothing too revealing

The sun will cook you if you dont....and wear something light in color...

High heels are not recommended because they may not be comfortable for the sandy climate...

you should be fine....not too much cleavage.

I'm American and I just moved back from Bahrain to Texas. I lived there for two and a half years and there's no really strict dress code. A t-shirt and jeans is perfectly fine, although i would wear shorts. But, if you do you'll always get whistled at, and no you don't need to cover your hair or face. It a much more free country than Saudi Arabia.

Hey I was Stationed there on NAS Bahrain for almost three years.

POLO or other types of collared shirts are acceptable everywhere except in the Mosques, jeans or other pants are fine anywhere, just think cool cuz it's hot there and i wouldn't advise wool LOL. also nuthing thin enough to show your undies. no head scarf is required except if you go in a mosque.

just think about what your grandmother would approve of and you'll be fine.

Cover your arms and legs (long sleeves, even though it is hot). You should probably wear a headscarf, but you do not have to.
