I just graduated high school and many family/friends/acquaintances have given me graduation gifts (both checks/money and items). What should I write on a card to them beside thank you?

  1. Thank you card etiquette: Thank them for the gift and tell them how you plan to use the item.  If they gave you money, don't name the amount.  Instead, thank them for their generosity. Also thank people who attended for coming and supporting you.

If you want, you can also tell them what your plans are now that you've graduated.  Close by telling them you look forward to talking to them or seeing them soon.  If you know when you'll see them, then be specific (e.g. I look forward to seeing you at Thanksgiving).

  2. make them personal. say thanks for the [name exact gift] and tell them something like they've always been a good friend & you appreciate them.
