Question:

What should Warner Brothers have done differently?

I think I know why everyone is annoyed about 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' being pushed back to July 2009. If Warner Brothers had said from the beginning that July 2009 was when it was coming out, no one would have cared. They would have been like,"Great, I'll see it in July." IMO the problem was that they OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED that it was coming out in November, THEN they changed it to July. What should Warner Brothers have done differently, and what can they do now to make people less annoyed with them?

  1. Well I'm pissed off at WB for delaying it. I believe it was Alan Horn who said that its complete and he saw it and it would have been ready for the November release. It looks VERY POOR on their part, more so that they are (or in my book "were") such a prestigious studio. Its pretty pathetic really. They should have stuck with the orignal date, to prove that there are no problems with the film...Save face.

  2. Oh, please... the movie will come out when it comes out.

    No big deal.

  3. Yeah, you're actually right about this. The trailer annoucning the Nov. date was already playing in theaters. (In fact, I saw it before "The Clone Wars" - two days after the HP delay was announced.)

If they were even contemplating bumping the film to 2009 (which they were doing for weeks), they should have held off on promoting the Nov. release date. All it has done is earn them ill will from fans who got their hopes up and were then told they'd have to wait.

  4. I don't really have a problem with it now that I've had a chance to calm down and think about it. I think I would prefer to see it during the summer.

But I think Warner Bros. made a mistake by announcing the release date so early in the first place. I mean they announced it in like mid to late 2006. There's usually a two year gap between the Potter films so the new date isn't that extreme. But the fact they waited to announce it right after the teaser trailer and 4 months before the film was scheduled to come out is what caused all this controversy. If they had been on their game and announced this way earlier then it wouldn't have been that big of a deal.
