  1. so he wants the wallywood mongoose. that bike isn't anywhere near as good as a much lighter hardtail from the local bike shop. the LBS hardtail will have better componentry, at least one free tune-up, a warranty on the frame, the pros at the shop will fit him to a bike, etc. the wallywood special is one-size-fits-all,  has irregular components, no service agreement, and since the bike is not assembled by an experienced mechanic the warranty is null & void. it is often cheaper to buy a new wallywood bike, than try to get it fixed. also, you said he wants to jump. the wallywood mongoose is NOT meant for rough riding! it will fail. give yourself some peace of mind. take your son to the local shop and get him a real bike..

  2. Its going to be heavy, between 40 and 50 pounds!!!

Look at getting a hardtail in that price range.

You'll get a much better bike for your money.

Dual Suspension bikes in that price range are not the best quality.

  3. a dual suspension at that prize want be that good, either try to up the prize rnage or look at front sus only bikes, you will be ablee to get a better one for your money and also you will have a wider range to choose from.

  4. i just got a 500 dollar dual suspension mountain bike and it weighs 32lbs. I would say that dual suspension mountain bikes are impossible to find at that price and just like all the others said, try looking for a hardtail. the one i got was the cheapest possible i could find and it was something i had looked for for about a year. there are obviously cheaper bikes at target and walmart but those arent such great quality and i wouldnt recommend those.also i wouldnt recommend a mongoose either because from the reviews i read they are pretty prone to breaking in some parts. youre best bet would be the local craigslist as thats the only thing that might possibly offer a dual suspension mountain bike for cheaper. if you do happen to find the bike youre lookin for it will probably be around 35 to 45lbs but that isnt as bad as it sounds. im 13 myself and 32lbs really doesnt feel like a lot and you could do jumps with more than that pretty easily.

  5. 40 lbs. mine ways 32, but its all tricked out and stuff. Konas are heavy, Giants are heavy, but they are all about 35-50 pounds.

  6. a hardtail would be better for him i a dual suspenion is not goo at that price  trust me
