My dad found an albino bunny running around in the rain. I am guessing that it is around 4 or 5 weeks old. It is a netherland dwarf. I have treated him for mite on advice of local pet shop who also guess at 4-5 weeks, but said it was too young to s*x. (s)he doesnt seem to be eating the pellets i have put in the bowl (burgess excel junior and dwarf) but has taken a couple of mls of goats milk from a syringe, has had a tiny bit of apple and seems to be happily eating hay. I weighed it this morning and it was 8.4oz/238g. Is this about right? Is it likely to survive? where do i go from here re; feeding?

Ps. my daughters 4 and 15mths are becoming quite attached to this little fellow (as am i)

cheers Liz

  1. The people at the pet store are obviously not very good with rabbits, because it is possible to s*x them even at 2 weeks, and some breeders do it at birth! But you can definitely be sure at 3 weeks, unless they have never done that kind of thing before.

Anyway Netherland Dwarfs usually weigh no more than 2.5 pounds, I'm not sure how that converts into oz or grams though?

If she's 4-5 weeks she still might have been needing SOME milk from her mother instead of just pellets. Goats milk is good for them, so if she doesn't eat pellets thats fine for her to drink that. If she doesn't start eating pellets soon you should probably take her to a vet.

    Hope I helped =)
