Hi everyone,

I'm a Romanian software developer and have been living with my wife who is a doctor in Canada for the past 4 years. We have had enough of the rough winters we get here and are considering to move to Ireland.

Knowing that some people coming from Romania caused major problems in your country, what should we expect in terms of acceptance from society? How would YOU react if we met in a pub and I told you I was Romanian?

Thanks.

  1. The same as the Irish get from Romania absolutely jack sh*t you have already scammed the Canadians try going home and do western europe a fuc*in favour

  2. You would be treated as an individual but with great Suspicion You have the many from your part of the world who having arrived here brought with them all that is distasteful to any society.

  3. omg irish winters suck its a damp cold which is much worse than a dry cold at a lower temp. geez. whats wrong with florida?

most irish fine, unless u go to  really rough pub and you get unlucky

  4. Tell you to f*** off back to your own country. Simple. You wanted an answer. You got it. Failing Ireland try that trick in France and see how they accept you. They won't. End of.

  5. ummmm honestly you could get a bad reaction. please don't take this the wrong way but a lot of romanians come to our country stealing and begging. i'm not saying its everyone 90 percent of the romanians that i've met have stole from the shop i run or annoyed me begging. it just gives a general feeling of distrust towards romanians. strangly enough tho if you said that i'd probaly annoy you asking questions about romania particularly about vlad(is he a hero??). my personal belief is if you come to our country and work hard and don't take advantage of our social welfare system then your more than welcome.

irish weather ain't the greatest either tho!!no where near as bad as canada bu at least in canada the seasons are defined whereas in ireland it just goes from drizzle to rain to drizzle.

but on the upside the house prices are sliding downwards rapidly. for example a house in kildare costing 295000 before christmas is now selling or 200000. best of luck with your decision

  6. I have had some really bad experience with a Romanian woman, who seemed completely decent at first. So I would say in future I will avoid dealing with them if I can help it, not that I'm stereotyping, it's just that no one has ever hurt me and made a lot of damage to my life as she did.

But I like your attitude, I don't think Irish people will have any problems accepting you.

  7. irish people are the most indiscriminat people i've ever met

    its beutiful aswell

  8. I believe that each person is an individual and should be treated as such with due respect but i'm afraid that the majority of people in Ireland and the UK are now over run with Romanians. Iraqi's, Somalians, Cosavons, Polish, etc and  think that they have been invaded  losing control of their own country.

It's interesting that you say about meeting in a pub, all the nationalities here as mentioned that i see stay within their own groups with their own cafe's and social infrastructure, they do not mix with us English at all. That's not really improving our image of them as a race that want to intergrate.

On the whole though and judging by your personal circumstances and good jobs/ social standing i think u would be fine in any country.

If 2 million English suddenly moved to Romania i guess that would get a similar mixed response.

  9. The weather in Ireland is horrible, Romania and Canada have far warmer summers.  Yes the climate is very temperate and mild, mild summers and mild winters be lucky if the temp dropped below -3  during winter but as a whole its damp.  Ireland is becoming a racist country we are quick to clump people into one category because of a few bad ones, In the south i reckon you'll be left alone in the north depending on which estates you move into you may get abuse or worse and depending on your religion you mightn't last one night in a protestant area.  If your a Catholic and come north stick to a Catholic estate don't hide away be seen especially make an effort to blend in by going to mass regularly and say hello to the locals with a smile.  You'll get no trouble from us.
