Question:

What should a birth certificate say on it?

I have a friend, who was born in TX, and he is really mad that his mother put her maiden name on his birth certificate. So now he has four names, his first, middle, dad's and mom's last names. What in the world? I say, you only need two, but his mom apparently didn't think so. What do you all think, and how can he fix this freak problem?

  1. ...........................OR he could just use one of the names. He doesn't have to go by his entire name that's only required for government documentations.geez. or just get his name  legally changed if he's so freaked out about it.

  2. The mothers first and last name is on the birthcertificate (maiden name not married name).  Fathers name usually appears if there is on listed.  Childs fullname.  Birthdate and sometimes birthweight and length.  Where the baby was born.  Sometimes the name of the Dr who delivered.

  3. Unless he's 18 or older he can't change his name.

  4. As the mother you can pretty much put what you want on the certificate. For him to change the name the both of them have to go down to the Social Security Office and file for a name change. It's an ordeal though.

If this is a HUGE issue for him have him go to Nolo.
