What should a letter of resignation look like?

im currently working at pizza hut but wuld like the quit...so how should i write one? some samples would be helpful

You should formally resign from any employer because they will, at some point, be used as a reference.  I applaud you for taking the high road and being a professional!

It should say something along the lines of "I hereby tender my resignation of employment effective August 25, 2008.  (**GIVE A REASONABLE NOTICE!**)  I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to have worked for Pizza Hut.  I am willing to fufill any obligations to the company including training my replacement.  Pizza hut has provided a wonderful learning experience for me, and I'm looking forward to using those skills to better my financial situation."

or

"I am submitting my resignation of employment effective August 25, 2008.  Thank you for the opportunity to have worked for a wonderful company.  Please let me know what I can do to make the transition less complicated."  if you prefer something less wordy...

You can write that into a Word memo format, and cc to anyone (supervisor, general  manager, corporate) you need to.  Good luck!

If you want to be decent just tell your manager you're leaving before he starts making up the new work schedule
