I am 21, paying college expenses, and have an eight year old I am watching for the summer. I am working 40 hours a week. We do fun activities such as crafts, going to the pool, playing tennis, catching insects, etc. Sometimes her friends come over to join in the fun. What is a fair rate to ask for? Thanks!!

  1. No less than $10.00!  I have worked for 6 families and have never made less than that!

I currently work live-in right now for 1 child and make $15.00/hr. and that includes room & board.

Going rate for Nannies is anywhere between $10 - $15.

Don't sell yourself short, they would have to pay more for any other Nanny.

    Good luck :)

Ps.. I joined nannyisland.com, it's networking and q&a for nannies with lots of ideas for activites and stuff.  Just thought I'd spread the word :)

  2. You should get at least $10.00 per hour. The going rate for a nanny that comes to yuor home is between $12-$14. per hour. I can't believe someone suggested $50 a week! That's outragious that is like $1.25 per hour!!! LOL

at $10.00 per hour which is on the low side, you should get $400.00 per week.

Now if you do the care at your own home you would charge less. Then I would charge $5.00 per hour which is $40.00 per day. That would give you $200.00 per week but that is only if you do the care at your home and if you have to feed the child then you should get more unless they send food.

Right now I care for a kid who is 10 and I get paid $50.00 per day.

The last family I was a nanny for I cared for one 3 yr old girl and I was paid $13.00 per hour.

  3. I agree with someone else's answer.... 200$ a week sounds fair.

  4. about 50 a week?

  5. I am watching two kids for the Summer, ages 2 and 4.  And we LOVE doing fun activities. I am also working 40 hours a week. From 6-4 Mon-Thurs. I get about 200 a week.

Its about 20 per child per day. Good Luck.
