What should a wand be made from?

i was told to look for a hazel wand from a virgin tree. should i purchase the tree so i can know for certain that the branch is from a virgin tree?

Hazel or willow is good to use, however, ask permission from the tree, not that the tree is going to answer you verbally, just pick up on the vibes, and don't just rip a branch off, look around the base of the tree for fallen branches and use these!

All trees are virgin so don't concern yourself with this.  just pick a branch from the hazel tree, stroke it up and down, feel the smoothness and if it vibrates in your hand, you have found what you were looking for.

It depends on your path and what uses you intend the wand to be for.

If it is a general use 'generic' wand for directing energy then Hazel might be a good choice. If it is for a more specific purpose I suggest you invest a good book by a respected authority on your path of course about trees and their correspondences. This will help you make up your own mind.

It's best to research, each tree and it's wood represents something different and it depends on what it means to you. Always ask the trees spirit for permission before taking a branch. :) You can also attatch a gem stone to the end of the wand (again with approapriate symbolism for you.) Good luck :)

A wand can be from more materials than wood.  I have a wood wand but I have seen stone wands, metal wands even plastic tubing with tumbled pebbles inside.  One thing seems to be often described in making wands is a crystal point on the end and an obsidian or crystal sphere on the other end and a copper wire wrapped from on end to the other, it doesn't have to be tight just so it circles the wand a couple of times.  This is to help the energy gain force and direct the energy.  My wand doesn't have any of this but I did ask for permission from the tree to take the wood and I find it works fine for me.  Blessed be.
