  11. I would encourage you to allow boredom...  When my 11-year-old complains that he is bored I respond, "Hmm.  Maybe the TV you watched or the computer game you played harmed your imagination. Maybe 30 minutes per day is too much and we should cut down further!"  He quickly goes off and finds something to do.

Also, boredom is a good part of summer for kids.  They need to stare at the sky and daydream.  Being really bored can lead to imaginative solutions, especially if you make it clear that you are not responsible for her entertainment.. she is! Show her that you are OK with her being bored.

I do believe too much TV/electronic gaming makes kids passive and makes them expect to be entertained instead of finding their own fun.  Is she indulging too much?

She can craft, bake, scrapbook, organize all the family photos in that shoebox, hold her own garage sale, repaint an old picnic table, make a comic book, find a pen pal, research her dream vacation (tourist boards will send free brochures if you ask), write a letter of complaint or praise to a snack food company and see if she gets a coupon back, draw on an old shirt with fabric pens, put her hair in curlers, learn to knit or needle felt (instructions from a library book or on line), sew buttons or ribbons on an old pair of jeans, build an obstacle course for her hamster, see if she can make it from her bedroom to the kitchen without stepping on the floor, put on music and dance.

Sit with her and brainstorm a huge list and then never entertain her complaints again...

  12. Paint or draw? Read a book :) Write your own book :)

    Re-arrange your room :)

    Clean your bathroom :)

Something useful or constructive with your time, instead of wasting in on Yahoo! Answers, like i am!?

  13. Well there are many things she can do. I wonder if you are the 11 year old or if its your mom posting here. Besides the obvious of watching TV, you can read. Some of my favorites, that i can remember are The thief lord, Boxcar children,Magic tree house, the Jungle book, any collection of fairy tails. Ask your parents to take you to the library and just pick out what takes your fancy. Or you can do some artwork such as drawing a picture, using watercolor and so on. there are also things called paint by the numbers which are cheap and easy/fun to do. It can be of anything, your pet, family, favorite place etc. Also you can bake stuff(like cookies or pancakes, but make sure a parent is at least in the kitchen with her. There are also are also many crafts she can do http://crafts.kaboose.com/holidays/seaso...

Whats always fun though is inviting a friend over and letting them do whatever their imaginations tell them.

  14. Play outside and have her try and make friends. let her try and find something to do instead of depend on other people all the time. or you can try a question game maybe you guys can ask each other questions about whatever she can learn and think she is having fun at the same time.

  15. How about tidy out your closets and have a little fashion show of your own.  Decide what you have grown out of and put it in a bag for a charity shop.

Have a look on answers and see if you can help out on the homework section. It may be summer holidays on the northern hemisphere but it's winter here in Australia and the kids are still in school.

See if your mom needs help.

  20. Clean your room.  Clean the house.  Prep dinner for the parents.  Clean the yard.  (hope for a bigger raise on the allowance).  Listen to music and watch yourself dance in the mirror.  Walk the dog/lizzard/cat/critters.  Study up on making fresh bread or simple summer dinners.

    Try foodnetwork.com       and

    epicurious.com

I can teach you a simple recipe for fresh bread for dinner.  just email me at      selrom2@yahoo.com.

I do that almost daily.  Only takes minutes, but it's SSSOOOOO Good!

  21. Talk to her friends on yahoo messenger or go on aim and talk to them.

  22. Go on bored.com! or other random stuff on the internet

  23. Well you can ask your parents if there is anything you can do to help them around the house.  If you don't want to do chores I would try not to tell you parents that you are bored. Sometimes then they will give you chores to do so that you stay busy and help them. You can try to work on creative skills like drawing and painting. Even reading a good book. The Harry Potter Series is a good one.  Or American Girl Books are good I enjoyed them when I was your age. You could even make homemade cards with buttons and beads for your friends birthdays.  These are just some of the things that I used to do when I was bored.
