I have 3+ years experience cooking in fine dining restaurants. I know this isnt very long however I am used to getting hired at a higher hourly rate than guys with more than twice my experience. I wont get into why but i cant cook for a living anymore and i dont qualify for a teaching or consulting job. Im only 21 and want to know what else i could do for a living. I was thinking about starting FOH work and maybe trying for a GM position eventually.

  1. You should consider being a food service/restaurant manager before you decide a drastic change of direction.  With your experience in the kitchen as a cook, you can relate to both sides of the house.  A lot of cooks and chefs respect managers who experienced what they go through.

  2. You could start your own buisness?

Be your own boss, in anything.

If your thinking about doing something, then do it!

Theres no use in someone telling you what you should do, If you have the passion for it then go for it :)
