No food or water for a while sounds good.

Some people are just unbelievable, how could they sit in their houses and watch their dogs just waste away or see their dog starving and not feed it. its a good thing she managed to escape or this would have probably killed her.

Poor dog!  Something similar happened near me last year. A man actually kept his Greyhounds inside his house and starved them to death. I went through the roof when he got probation. That's not even a slap on the wrist! I agree, starve the monsters. Let them feel what it's like. I don't know about this woman, but our guy was nice and fat himself. AND he was president of a Greyhound Rescue. It just makes me want to tear them apart.

People who do this to animals make me sick.  This poor baby weighs less than half of what she should I think a cell is too good for her.  She needs to be chained to a tree with no shelter (probably how she kept this poor baby)   as well as barely giving her enough to keep her alive.  Its time like this I wish  the punishment really could match the crime.  The best we can hope for out of this is that this poor baby finds a wonderful home that will spoil her rotten for the rest of her life.  As far as the owner goes unfortunately most courts don't think animal abuse is serious and rarely give jail/prison time, hopefully she will do time for the assault of the officer and we have to be happy knowing there is a special place in h$## for people who treat animals like this.

Its sad. people do it to kids too. its a sickness we humans have. Somewhere down the line as our brains grew, our penchant for doing the most cruel things also evolved. My Cane Corso/Pitt mix was a bait dog and he too was starved. Not like this dog, but his body condition was so poor they feared organ failure. It took a long time to get some weight on him. Working in the field I did, it was sadly a common occurance, it was a shame for the ones that were too late, and horrible nightmares for the ones we did manage to get too.

Nothing you do to this person will make her think twice. Its a problem, they do not see lesser creatures as living breathing animals. They will continue to do it and do not learn. Believe me if you starved her, brought her back, and then released her the next time she will just get smarter about how she abuses animals. Doing that sort of thing doesnt teach anyone anything but how to get smarter the next time. I have seen it. Repeat offenders of animal cruelity never learn. They just move to a different county and start over again.

Why would you even give her enough food to stay alive?  

Edit:  So just give her water.  A human can live 4-6 weeks without any food at all as long as he or she has water.  I think 6 weeks of pure starvation ought to do the trick.

Edit2:  I saw an episode of Animal Cops (good old Houston, love those Texas judges!) where a woman starved a few horses and I believe one or all of them died... the judge put her in jail and the first 2 weeks she was in there she got nothing but bread and water, and the judge made them tape pictures of the dead horses all over her cell so she had to look at what she'd done every single day.  I think that judge deserves a medal.

There was a woman who went to jail and for three days was fed only bread and water. Pictures of the horses she left to starve was around her cell. I wish they would do that to everyone who starved animals.
