What should be in a 6th graders tote/backpack on the first day of school?

On the first day of school, your teachers will hand out a list of things that you need for their class, such as binders, folders,ect usually I bring a pencil and a notebook, because you don't really need anything on the first day.

Bring a binder for the first day, nothing else. Trust me once your actually in school they'll tell you what to get.

for the first day just bring a notebook or something you can write on. the teachers should tell you what you'll need. you should also have a couple pens or pencils. that's about it. in your bag you should have those supplies, maybe a 'girly' kit stocked with pads or tampons just incase, etc. have fun!

Just bring a notebook, folder, pencils and pens.  They will probably give you a list for each class on the first day of school.  That's what they do at my son's high school.

Notebook, paper, pen/cils. I don't think they'll give you any big assignments or anything on the first day. I'm sure they know your nervous, especially if its at a new school, so they'll probably go easy on you for a bit.

Hey, been there done that, so I hope I can help.

Since they didn't give you a list, most schools do so I would suggest going to your local Wal-Mart (or other store) and see if there is one there, the teachers must be in charge of telling students what to bring.

So here is what I suggest:

1 folder to put papers and syllabus's in

1 notebook to keep track of what each teacher wants you to bring

A pencil bag with pens, pencils, and a highlighter.

Any other supplies the school has given you to bring on the first day (school planner, etc)

As to if you want a tote or a backpack, take this from me a former middle school-er, a backpack is more efficient. You will recieve a lot of books.
