  1. What the previous answer said sounds good but I think it also depends on the age group.  In elementary school where I am, they call it "family life".  At this age, they focus more on puberty and the changes youth go through.  This includes male and female anatomical differences. They also introduce appropriate/ more scientific vocabulary or terminology.  As they get older, they get into reproduction and STD's, especially HIV and AIDS which is rapidly growing in this area, as well as protection.

It might also be a good idea to get into discussions about feelings, relationships and peer pressure.  Too many teens are engaging in sexual activities because they believe it is expected of them rather than because they want to.  They need to hear that it is OK to wait and learn appropriate and effective ways of saying "No, thanks.  Not now/ not yet."

Children and youth also have many other concerns, misconceptions, and questions about the topics.  In your lessons make time for the talk and incorporate their needs and they'll get so much more out of it.  And enjoy.

  2. Anatomy, specifically male and female reproductive systems and how they work; a discussion of STD's, and how to avoid them; pregnancy control mechanisms.
