  1. Depends on the jacket. If you are talking hardback with a dust jacket, you would have a 100-200 word "Jacket Blurb." This is a synopsis of the book, developed to hook the reader. You want just enough info to get them interested, but never give away and important plot points.

This would go in the front flap. On the back flap would be your bio. 100-150 words.

If it is a paerback, you would simply have the "Jacket Blurb." If you wonder how to write a blurb, read the back cover copy of some of your favorite books and then figure out the same format for your book.

  2. Usually there's a summary of the book on the front flap (sometimes continuing on the back flap), and on the back flap, something about the author, and other books in the series.  On the back of the books there are usually reviews or a quote from the book.

  3. Not very long,

    a paragraph?

    two?

three the most. (In small letters for three paragraphs...)

What I find most reasonable, is a paragraph and the like a sentence for suspense.
