Question:

What should be "AGW's" Final Solution Be?

Should the gvmt just go ahead and raise taxes on consumerism, number of children, SUV's, large homes, to fight the bigger problem of global warming?

Should the gvmt just strip away the accreditation of professionals that don't agree with global warming, as suggested by Heidi Cullen?

Should global warming deniers be placed in detention until they start agreeing with the true science of the IPCC?

What should be governments roll be in coming up with the "Final Solution" to solve global warming?

  1. I think that the government should fund research into CO2 filtering of power plants by plankton.  It is a pretty cool process of running the CO2 generated through tubes filled will plankton.  The plankton consumes the CO2 and releases oxygen.  Also the dead plankton can be reused as a biodiesil.  Last time I read anything about this they were having a problem with the breed of plankton.  In a nutshell The fatty plankton which were good for making biodiesel died to quickly.  As this country has very large coal reserves I think this would be a good way I optimize the infrastructure we already have in place.  Filtering Coal fired power plants has also proved to be profitable in the past.  Many of the Sulfer mines near Houston Texas have shut their doors because sulfur filtered from power plants is produced in such large amounts it is taking over the market.

I say this because coal fired power plants contribute a staggering amount of CO2 in the atmosphere more than all of the automobiles I think.  And there are so many vaulable chemicals we just let float up into the air.  Also now we are at the point were we are feeling economic nonrenewable resource crunch and capturing these chemical may begin to become economically viable.

  2. The government should come clean that global warming is not what its hyped up to be. If you read the news, scientists are changing their minds about GW every 5 minutes. They don't know whats going on.

  3. Like so many divisive and conflicting "opinions/theories" issues, this one will go down as one of the worst...............ranking with the 3 no-no's not to talk about...............s*x, religion and politics.

Yet, wouldn't it make more sense to give the benefit of the doubt in an issue with such critical effects as this topic? Does anyone truly want to risk their childrens future, by believing this is a hoax, perpetrated by big business and covered up by the Government ?

I personally believe in what James Hanson, Climatologist for NASA revealed, after being under a censure order for the last 2 years. The suppression of certain information is because  the Government does not want to cause panic...............the climate/weather anomalies are irreversible, because it's natures cycle, not man caused ( although we didn't help things).

Our species has been here for 10,000 years, a blink in cosmic time. We have no sustainable evidence of what's really going on.

So, for the naysayers, believe and trust your Government and wait. IF worst case scenario's happen, I'm sure they will be right there to help you out.........................just like Katrina.

  4. Environmental troikas enforcing the new "article 58".

Provided someday AGW is actually proven, Government should stay out of it.

Governments rarely do a good job at solving problems and should stick to paving roads or maybe  enforcing federal laws(like immigration).

Entrepeneurs will solve the fuel puzzle, not governments.

  5. 1st paragraph: I think the government should place a fine on non-work-related SUV's Pick-up trucks, and hummers.

    3rd paragraph: YES!

4th:  The final solution to Global Warming is to stop production on cars (even truck chassy vehicles) that are over a certain MPG.

  6. Absolutely not! Read the following:

    Exerts:

    "Is the Earth still warming?"

She (Jennifer Marohasy, a biologist and senior fellow of Melbourne-based think tank the Institute of Public Affairs) replied: "No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years."

Duffy: "Is this a matter of any controversy?"

Marohasy: "Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognizes that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued ... This is not what you'd expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you'd expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up ... So (it's) very unexpected, not something that's being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it's very significant."

  7. What the believers want and what they will get are two different things.

What they want is to stick it to the evil corporations and remold society in their own image.  What they will get is nuclear power.

With all of the climate change hysteria, the resistance to building more nuclear power plants is weakening.

There's also something for the believers.  Governments will respond to emotional demands in their usual way - with tokenism.  There will be new laws which will be touted to clean up the power industry.  New standards will be introduced with advertising campaigns to raise peoples awareness.  Consumers will be issued with certificates with pictures of trees on them to reassure them that the environment is being protected.

  8. The government's role should be to regulate carbon emissions and invest in alternative fuel technologies (research, development, subsidies, etc.).

  9. Primary step- seriously invest and develop new technologies.

I think everyone can get on board with this without much political hassle because it decreases dependence on foreign oil also.

  10. Those with soft hands don't realize just what a gvmt is truly capable of. I can live with GW, but can't with a dishonest, self righteous, group of glorified speculators. Try taking my old pickup truck from me. H-ll I'd be happy if they pay me social security, much less spend it on GW. The ironic part is, I served my country so these S_B's could tell me how to live.
