heres the thing, i m from conservative society, we usually ve arranged marriages, but guy and gal are allowed to talk and know each other before making choice but no dating is allowed.

anyways coming to my question, i am 25m, looking for a girl for marriage nowadays, i dont know what should be the age difference, i always felt i m comfortable with girl of same age or max 2yrs younger. But the problem is that parents feels that she should be 4-5 yrs younger as some of my cousins have married whose hubbys are 4-6 yr older are happy and now ve kids as well.

i still cant get them, as i think 4-5yrs younger will be too young and will be communication and intellectual gap.

Please let me know about it, as it is my life biggest decision.

Thanks !!!

  1. Well, I don't know about your culture, or what your culture is... so I can't give you an informed answer.

That being said, my friends and I have settled on the American tradition of using this formula:

((your age) / 2)+7= youngest girl you should consider

So being 25 you would be:

    (25/2)+7=13+7=20

    20 years old.

If you want a nice older lady just do the inverse:

    (25-7)*2=18*2=36

    36 years old.

This formula allows for the allowance of greater age discrepencies as you get older.  After all, it doesn't matter if a 70 year old dates a 58 year old, but if you date a 13 year old (same age difference) that's just a little bit twisted.

  2. you be the decider in who you date. don't let your parents have any choice in it. i would date any one from 1-3 younger maybe. But i wou;d date a anyone from1-3 older. choose someone you will be happy and don't listen to what your parents they're wrong. You'll know when you found the right person not your parents. BEST OF LUCK.

  3. i dont think that age really matters at all, it's the person inside, if u like a girl thats 5 years younger and she likes u so wat? theres nothing wrong with that. just be with who u want to be with.

    hope that helps

  4. The rule that always works - divide by 2, then add 7. This is for males. So you are 25, so the acceptable minimum is 19.5.

The rule is the inverse for women, subtract 7, then double it.

On a completely different topic though, don't marry a woman for her age, or her money. Marry her because you love her and you want to spend your life with her. That's a bit of personal advice, take it or leave it.

  5. WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT GIRL AGE WON'T MATTER.

  6. When it comes to a relationship or in your case, looking for one, you can't start out with an agenda.  You are starting out looking for a marriage partner when you should be looking for friends. Live and laugh.  Let love come naturally.  Love and marriage isn't a scavenger hunt.  When the right person comes along, you'll know it and the age thing won't matter.  At 25, you have alot of living to do.  Good luck!

  7. Age should be the last thing on your mind. When your in love and even thinking of the idea of marriage it wont matter.

Unless you pull a Anna Nicole Smith 28  married J. Howard Marshall 89.

NOW , that's pushing the age bracket to morbid.

  8. i think it's ok to have a girlfriend/wife that is 4/5 years younger. you're 25 so they'll be 20/21, and that isn't much of an age difference. i think it's ok really to have that much (:
