Is it the Mother tongue or the International language?

This is not a problem in English speaking countries because it is their mother tongue.

Here in the Philippines many of the Graduates in many schools had difficulty in understanding many subjects they are taking because the medium of instruction is in English.

Our Mother tongue is Filipino based in tagalog. Many students missed to comprehend many lessons because it is in English. Thus they are becoming unuseful part of the society.

What is your opinion regarding this matter?

  1. I definitely see the problem, and it is a problem in the United States as well.  Students come here from other countries and are very intelligent, but are sometimes placed in easier classes because they need ESL (English as a Second Language).

I think it would make sense to have classes in both Tagalog and English.  It's important to value different languages so that we don't lose them.

I've heard about Hawaiians and Native American tribes struggling to keep their languages alive in their youth.  It's a shame to lose those languages, because it's a big part of their cultures.
