  1. that will depend much if you have a place to stay provided by the company or if you have to pay your own.  Apartment and condo rentals are a bit expensive.

US$4000 would be a good starting salary, especially if you are single.

i would advice that you take the offer, for international experience.  i am sure you are still young, maybe mid to late twenties.  international experience could give a lot more credence in your resume and biodata.

besides, this will just be a start. am sure you will have more luxurious offers after your stint in singapore.

  2. singapore is a place wherein, whatever you earn, you can just use all up, because its very very expensive for each and everything in this country..

go elsewhere for your true international experience..

money no enough 2 is a singaporean movie, watch it somehow or the other to know the true life of singaporeans and their money issues..

things from outside looks nice, but what actually goes on inside is the main matter..

    gotcha?

my answer for your question at this present situation would be $30k per month..

  3. Housing costs will be your main expenses. Add $2500 to the monthly rent should give you a decent life in Singapore, of course this means taking public transport.

  4. i start with $650 in 1988

i now getting $4300 doing the same job

and i still do not have enough money to pay my tax yet this year..lol

  5. Hi there. The living expense in Singapore has gone up a lot due to the inflation, oil price and demand in the property market. However, among other big cities in Asia like Tokyo, HK and Sydney, Singapore is still relatively cheaper to stay. You still can get a decent lunch+drink+desert for less than $5 at the food courts which are aplenty in Singapore. And when you are here you should try the local food because it's cheaper and of course more interesting :)

The bulk of your expenses will be the housing rental. It has gone up a lot in the past few years. You can choose to stay in a public housing which is much cheaper but if you really want to enjoy the living, you can should stay in a condo which usually comes with swimming pools and tennis courts. Be prepared to pay around $2k/month for a decent place.

So if you are earning $5k, I would say you can have a good living in Singapore.

  6. if you are able to live in public housing, like share a 2BR flat with someone else, then S$2500/month should be plenty. however if you have expensive housing tastes, ride taxis a lot, buy high-end clothing and shoes, eat out frequently, then even $10,000/month will not suffice.
