Obviously when installing windows on a formatted hdd, in your bios you would need to set cd rom as first boot device.

After windows is installed would selecting your hdd as your first boot device and you cd rom drive as second boot device help speed up boot times or slightly improve performance . I thought that as it would look for your hdd before you cd rom drive it could be quicker.

cheers

  1. your correct, since its looking for a CD ROM that its not going to find it will take a bit longer.  But, my guess is it will only save you a few hundredths of a second.

I like to put the HD first because then i dont get an error if i reboot with a CD in the drive.
