What should do about my skin?

Alright, so basically my skin controls my life, I love to run and be outdoors, but I'm so fair that I even when I do put sunscreen on I still get a little burned. I'll put it this way, im about as fair as you can possibly get, and I want to be like all my friends who can just go outside and have a good time without having to worry about getting burnt to a crisp. It honestly sucks to be me and have your life controlled by your skin, and now I might not be able to do cross country because its to hot for me outside.

What should I do???

  1. Just keep using a good sunscreen.  Even with that, you will tan gradually.  Often people want to have a tan immediately, and not everyone can do that.  It is not even healthy to do that - a tan is not a good thing.  You are doing the healthy thing to help make sure you live a long time.  There are lots of people who don't tan and have to be very careful in the sun.

  2. Get the highest SPF sunscreen that you can find, and avoid the Sun as much as you can. I don't mean stay inside, just stand in the shade as much as possible. Wear a hat to cover your face. There isn't much else you can do besides wear a sweatshirt or something that covers your skin, but it's probably too hot for that. Don't let your skin hold you back from cross country, though.

  3. go to a dermatologist and they can give u a higher sunscreen (pricier) that'll work better, they have ones with higher SPF and with zinc and protects UVB and UVA rays from the sun. my dermatologist gave me some and it works.

  4. it might seem like a good idea to get a "base tan" at a tanning salon or whatever, but that'll just give you higher chances of skin cancer, and burn you.

use 1 oz- 2 tablespoons- of sunscreen to cover your entire body and put on the same amount after 2 hours. most people don't use enough. since you'll be doing sports, a waterproof and sweat proof sun block is best. try to find one with an spf higher than 30.

get chap stick with an spf.

also, clothes that have an ultraviolet protection rating (UVP).
