  1. Try to talk to her or him first. But don't get caught up in their drama to deep. You will become what they call an enabler. Riding them around while they are drunk, rescuing them when they call or get in trouble, loaning them money, buying them booze,  lying for them, and mostly agreeing with there reasons for drinking is actually helping them or encouraging them to continue! They will bring you down with them.  The best thing you can do for yourself and your friend is tell them you won't have anything else to do with them if they don't get help. You have to mean it and their whole family and every friend should all do this. It called intervention but you all have to stick together.

  2. Get her help, call your area's alchohol abuse hotline.

  3. This is a sad situation, if you have been trying to help this person improve their life and have not see any results..... It might be time to move on.

Maybe losing some friends will wake that person up to the fact that they need to change their ways.  This shouldn't be your burdon and you shouldn't feel gulity about it.

Tell them in a friendly conversation (not as a threat), that they have changed and we have less in common and I'm not going to spend time together any more... tell them they can call you if they want to talk, and you'll be there if they stop drinking, but for now... you have to move on with your life.

    Good Luck

  4. maybe your friend hates herself.  being always drunk is a great way to never feel your feelings which is great if those feelings are terrible.
