What should happen next in my novel?

Question

A girl breaks her bf's heart, she suffers from guilt and heartache...

well at this point in the novel she begins to think she can really get past this and move on BUT they see each other at a party...

whats worse is the guy sees his ex with the guy she cheated on him with. Well the girl, as drunk as she is, she her ex and flees but her ex catches up with her.

I don't know what they'd talk about though as he helps her home...

Any suggestions? The best answer will be acknowledged in my novel

people usually spill their hearts when their drunk so she could do that to the ex and the ex could hug her thus making a kick in the nuts situation for the guy to walk in on

She's drunk?

It depends on what kind of drunk she is.  Is she an honest drunk or is she weepy drunk?

I think weepy would work well here.  Have her cry and tell him how sorry she is and how lousy a person she is.  If he is the protagonist in your novel and he's a stand up guy he can be a reassurance to her and help her find herself again.  Are they getting back together in the end?  That kind of conversation would help pave the way.

maybe they see something which was a big part of their relationship or go past where they first met and that gets them talking or something like that

she takes her home and she's all apologizing and trying to make a move on him and he pushes her away. Then gives her this emotional speech and walks out. she stands in suspense with no ideal what to do or say.
