What should have I done in this situation?

I was playing a casual round at the local course and I found myself at around....60-80 meters from the green.

I took out my sand wedge so I could loft the ball in...I hit the ball really good, went up and then when it landed on the green, it put a dimple in it...the ball moved on though.

SO what should have I done?? Because i didnt know what I should do, i took a pinch of sand from the bucket and filled the dimple.

and....if the ball had stayed in the hole, what would the ruling be on that?

  1. You should use a divot repair tool or a tee would have worked to repair the divot. If the ball would have stayed in the divot since the ball was on the green you could have marked the ball repaired the divot and replaced the ball without penalty.

  2. Your on the green so 1 mark your ball and pick it up 2 use your divot tool to repair ball mark 3 replace ball and then pick up ball mark 4 putt

    no penalty

  3. You did the right thing by filling the dimple but you should really use a divot repair tool. You still would not have had a penality.
