  1. I checked LOT website, it's 20 kilo for economic class and 30 for business. Carry-on bags: business class max 2 bags, 20lb, 46 in, economic class max  1 bag, 13lb, 46 in. Plus a handbag, a coat, an umbrella... for further info check http://www.lot.com/Portal/EN/aspx/Conten...

    It's rather wam in Poland, even hot, but it does rain every now and then.

    I checked the weather forecast, it says it'll be 18-21 degrees in this region (Mazury).  Hope that will be helpful when it comes to packing :)

    For souvenirs I recommend ethnic art, maybe little wooden sculptures?

    Hope that helps :)

  2. Bring money and buy them what they need at the local store.

  3. to Poland: Swiss or Belgian chocolates are still the best in Europe, French petit beur biscuits and small flasks of genuine French perfumes, British soldier dolls are lovely;

    from Poland: be i your Dad i’d bring you: DVDs with Polish cartoons, a picturesque book with Polish fairy tales; a lace of amber beads;

  4. As a 20yr old Pole I would be very happy to get an iPod (they're quite expensive here and fashionable at the same time). Generally electronics (quite expensive in Europe, cheaper in USA) and cosmetics maybe.

    However, you should keep in mind that we don't differ that much in wealth and availability of products from USA. Some gifts might not be attractive enough and be just a waste of money.

    I think something obviously American would be nice. Keep in mind that things obvious and well-known to Americans are not that obvious to Poles - for example an "I love New York" T-Shirt wouldn't be a very good gift (I think) because people here don't know this logo and slogan. Also some things are more popular in the States and wouldn't be of much use in Poland (for example Apple computers are used only in professional use).

    As for the clothes - Poland is a bit like Southern Canada, or Northern USA. If your mom has ever been there - she'll know what to take. Generally it can be very warm but it can also rain HEAVILY. Weather is very unpredictable in Poland. These three weeks might be very cold (15 degrees Celsius, that is) and very warm (30 degrees Celsius). She should be prepared for everything, unfortunately.

    As for the gifts for you - maybe something to eat? Grajewo is a small city, such cities usually have rich culture. They definitely have a gift shop, so your mom will be able to buy you something - for example a doll (not for fun) dressed in old, regional clothes ;-) You can also listen to some Polish music and ask your mom to buy you some CD. But be careful about the CDs! They can be very cheap but your mom should keep in mind that such cheap CDs (of freign artists, not Polish) are Central and Eastern European versions (designed to be sold cheaply and legally at the same time) - they have no book with the lyrics and photos, just the cover. They also have huge flags of Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland at the back or even on the cover.

  5. Depends on the age and s*x of people she's going to visit. Polish people are very fond of tea so she could take some in nice packages or tins. Nice mugs could be a good idea, too, or Body Shop products, it's not so well known in Poland yet, I think there's only one shop in Warsaw. English biscuits are also quite famous. Well, hope it helps.
