  1. I used to always bring a bag of toys - it really helps to break the ice especially with new kids.  Really any toy appropriate with their age group will do - any new toy is exciting for kids.  Try to stay away from messy toy (markers, play dough etc.) until you know the kids and the parents as not all kids can handle them or are allowed.   Also make sure you say "I brought some of my toys to play with while I'm here" otherwise they may think it's a gift.  I think one little boy I baby sat looked forward to my baby sitting just for my toys.  Hopefully you still have some of your old toys you can bring, if not go to the dollar store or walmart for the basics.  Books are always good, skipping rope, barbies, dolls, coloring books and crayons.  Noisy toys are great because kids love them but parents hate them.   As long as you remember to take them home the parents will love kids getting it out or their system while they're not home!  I sounds like you're off to a great start at becoming a great baby sitter!

  2. When I use to babysit I would always bring:

    1) A book or magazine

    2) Something to snack on (I'm a picky eater)

    3) Homework

    4) Toddler safe candy (for bribing or rewarding)

    5) A cool big kid toy or activities they are likely not to have seen or done before. Ex. magic 8 ball (kids love to ask questions.)

It really depends on the kids age and what they are interested in. They should have plenty of their own stuff to keep them entertained at their house. Going outside or watching a movie are always a great standby if you get bored or need something fun to do with them. While its warm, go for a walk, go feed the ducks, paint on the sidewalk and then put them in the bath. You'll do great. Don't be afraid to ask the parents for ideas too.

  3. well you should bring anything that you think can make your job babysitting easier e.g.

    1)toys

    2)story books

    3)play dough

    4)Scrap paper and crayons

5)Story ideas (children are more interested when it comes straight from you rather than a book)

Also bring some food just incase you get hungry and dont like what the family is offering you.

And lastly some schoolwork or a magazine as something to do when the kids fall asleep.

Hope this helps & have fun babysitting!
