What should i charge per hour to babysit a 12 month old?

i took up the offer below from someone in my mommy group i have a 16 month old son and thought it would be a good play-date for him. but what should i charge her?

I think $5 per hour would be fair.  It's only for a couple of hours a day which would be about $40/week.  But if it turns into more time than that, I would consider agreeing to a flat daily or half/day rate so either of you don't have to watch the clock as much and you both know what to expect for the daycare bill.  In my area the daily rates are $23-25 for full day and $17-19 for 5 hours or less for under 2yrs old....

I look after my friends son on wednesdays for 6 hours, she offers to pay me but I feel bad saying yes to that, but if she said hey here is $10 an hour, take it, I would really appreciate it! Anyhow, you may like to say between 10 and 15, I think that is the going rate...

I think $10-$15 per day is pretty reasonable. I guess it all depends if she will be providing diapers, snacks, and milk/juice. I would take that into account before deciding what to charge. I pay my babysitter about $10 for 1 1/2-2 hours for my 13 month old. But I provide everything my son needs. And she's in High School so its good for some extra money since she doesn't have another job.
