about 3 weeks ago i started putting my daughter in her own crib, but all 3 weeks i have to lean over and rub her back till she falls asleep, im all about letting her cry she needs to learn how to fall asleep on her own but she is so flexible she can put her leg on top of the crib and pulls herself up i had to tell her no cause if i wasnt there she would of ended up on the floor. (the crib mattress is all the way down). i dont mind her screaming i just dont want her hurting herself. does anyone have any ideas on what i could do? thank you

  1. Try putting her in a toddler bed.  Maybe she doesn't like being caged in anymore and is trying her best to show you that she hates it and wants out.  My son hated being caged in in his crib.  Once we got him in a bed he was fine.

  2. duct tape her to the mattress?    jk, i like the idea of the netting over the top, I think 15 months old is too young to put in a toddler bed that they can REALLY climb out of, I think that there would be a bigger chance of her getting hurt with things around the house than her falling out of her crib.   Thankfully my daughter never tried climbing out   :)

  3. i think its time for a toddler bed. my neice was doing this and my sister bought her a twin size bed not a toddler with a bed rail and she felt more like she was in a big bed like my sisters and started going to sleep by her self

  4. Usually when the child learns to climb out of their crib, it is usually a sign they are ready a toddler bed. But if you are not ready for that i would suggest maybe put cushions or a duvet on the floor by the crib so if she does fall it would be a soft landing. and if she starts trying to get out you have to keep putting her back but do not react no eye contact just put her back and say good night and walk out the room. she will realise it is not getting attention and will learn its not worth it. Wait till she is really tired before putting her to bed.

  5. Hopefully she'll learn not to ever do such a thing again if she does it!  Ours did it once and never tried again.  Thankfully she wasn't hurt.  You could try putting some cushions around the bed if you're worried she might get hurt.  This is probably not a risk you want to take, so additionally you could:

Put a monitor in her room and stand outside and rush in if you hear her climbing the crib.

Make sure you tell her no! every time she starts to climb.

You could lay her down and stand over her and gently lay her back down and tell her to go to sleep when she gets up.

Get a good bedtime routine like bath, pjs, brush teeth, read book, turn off lights, sing song, prayers, put her down, comfort her briefly to make sure she's calm, say nite-nite and leave.

  6. take everything out of crib but sheet covered mattress and baby.

put pillows and such on the floor just in case.

    good luck

  7. Time to get her a "toddler" bed.  I don't know what your reasons for not having her in her own crib until now but it's obviously too late for a crib.

  8. My cousin bought some kind of netting that fit over the top of the crib and she secured it on the sides.  Sounds awful, but at least you know the child will be safely inside while you are asleep.

  9. Move her to a toddler bed before she hurts herself.  Its going to time on your part to teach her to stay in her bed.  My kids never slept in a crib so I didn't have this problem.  When they went from my bed to their own I followed a bedtime routine.  Supper, bath, bedtime story and then bed.  It took sometime but it worked with all 4 of my kids.  Make sure that she is good and tired, you might have to shorten her nap and change her bedtime to a later time.
