Question:

What should i do about my 'broken' knuckle?

I'm pretty sure i've done some significant damage to my knuckle..i punched a desk like..3-4 days ago..and my middle knuckle on my right hand has had a consistent swelling to it, i can bend/move my middle finger, but there is slight pain when i make a fist. There is a tremendous about of pain when i slightly poke/push on my knuckle..and when i do touch it, i can feel the pain through out my hand/wrist/arm. it is a numbing/burning kind of pain along with normal pain (im not sure if that made sense...) And also, if feels squishy when i do touch it (i cant touch it for more than 1 second without it hurting. and the pain from one touch last for maybe 5-10 seconds after i take my finger off of it.)

I think it's broken, but i've also heard it could b a tendon problem. so my question is...if i did go to the doctor, what would he/she be able to do?? would they just give me a splint that i could buy at the store? (because i dont have health insurance, and idk how much it would cost, depending whether they did an X-Ray or not).

SO

Would seeing a doctor not be worth it?

Should i just wait for it to heal?

Should i go to the doctor right away?

what would they do??

I appreciate all the help

  1. I accidentally hit the couch with my first  first two knuckles a couple of years ago and now because I never  had X-Rays done the two knuckles are fusing together-Hurts really bad. I wear a white glove with capzasin on it. Do you have a school -sorry school is out. Best bet is to go to an outpatient clinic and ask if you can make payments. Try some Motrin or Aleve for the inflammation. Best of luck !!
