I've been watching this nest outside on my porch. it started out with 5 babies. everyday for the past few days a baby has died. i've found them on the ground/porch. now there are 2 babies in the nest. i think 1 is dead and being eatten by bugs. the other one keeps shaking. it's really sad. i want to take the nest down and put it somewhere's else because the bird(s) remaining will probably die from the hard porch they will fall on. but i dont want the baby's mom to disown it if i touch it. that's what i hear what will happen if i do. what should i do i dont want it to suffer there.

  1. It is myth that a mother bird will disown her chicks if you touch them.  However I still would not move the nest because it's how nature works and if that many baby birds have died maybe the mother has also died.  There is nothing you can really do, just let nature take its course.

  2. keep watching it if the mother bird never come back do so save it i am doing it to a pigeon

  3. Try putting the nest on the ground in the same area. Then the mother bird will be able to find her babies and you don't have to worry about them falling. Plus, if you don't want to touch it, don't. The birds set themselves up in their nest where they chose, and letting nature take over could also be a good element.

  4. I think if the babies are dying most likely the parents are not around anymore.  Im sure if the parents are tame enough to nest on your porch they wouldn't be afraid to come back if human were around. You should take action and help the poor bird.

  5. that is very sad.  Is mom still coming around and feeding it?  Part of me says to leave it alone, mostly if mom is still there.  The other part says to get it to the vet.
