ok so i started playing volleyball in my sophomore year. im now entering my senior year of high school. i was out all last season due to a back injury that occurred the week before tryouts (i was supposed to be on varsity too) so i was not able to play. i havent played ball in about a year now and im not going to be in town for tryouts. i dont like the new head coach so i was thinking maybe i could be team manager for out JV2 team. i played on this coach's team my first year. do you think i should ask her if i can help out? you know like help shag balls, help with drills etc.? i figure that this way im still around a sport i love but since im not going to be at tryouts i wont be able to make the varsity team.

oh btw, i wasnt going to play at all this year but then i saw people playing at the beach, and it was on tv for the olympics so i realized how much i miss it. if i was in town for tryouts i might actually decide to play but im not so i cant. also the school camp is this week but the new coach added $75 to the price so now its $150. i cant afford it to even go and play.

should i be a team manager or just forget it?

  1. I think you should definately be a team manager.  Why not help out?  Also you might consider talking to the varsity coach to see if you could try out at a different time.  It sounds like you were pretty good if you were supposed to be on varsity last year too.  What have you got to lose?

  2. go for it. if it's something you love then you need to do it. and maybe with a little practice you could be more than a manager. if you don't try out you will regret it in the future, especially since you will have rarely anymore chances to play since your a senior.
