  1. A lot of people here are telling you to start ballet but you really want to consider why you're doing this before you make a decision!

If you are considering making dance a career or want to get very serious about it then ballet would be a fantastic option. Even if you didn't go far with ballet itself it is very good grouding for all dance helping you develop your flexibility, creativity, sense of movement and rhythm.

However, if you are looking for a fun hobby then hip hop might be more what you are looking for. Classes are more likely to be laid back and informal and the style is less disciplined.

Of course it all varies with different teachers etc. You might find yourself being taught hip-hop by someone who trains you like you're entering the Olympics...you never know!

What I guess I'm trying to say is, don't let other people make you believe that ballet is in some way better than hip-hop. Anyone who dances a particular style has a bias towards it (I'd have everyone dance salsa if I could!)  It just depends what you're looking for...

    Good luck!

  2. i think the latter,  which you will have to be dedicated to will help with the former ..............and only one to choose from ay think your the only one with answer to that,  good luck in all you do :@)

  3. hip-hop is alot of fun..

but with ballet you have to be very dedicated and serious about it.

but i'm very sure that you'll feel alot more accomplished if you choose to take ballet , but it all depends on what your looking for. :]

  4. If you plan to further your "career" as a dancer or get more serious about it take ballet. If your looking for something really fun to do take the hip hop.

  5. ballet cuz if u can learn ballet other types of dances will come easier 2 u

  6. They say that ballet is the basis for all dancing. It takes mind and hard work. It is a very dedicated sport. Ballet (At least the classes I take) are very strict and aren't too much fun and games. Hip hop classes are equally as hard, but it is good to have a ballet background, since they use some of the same technics.

Basically what I'm saying is join ballet. At least for the first year. It will no doubt help you in hip hop. If you truly hate it, you can try switching classes into hip hop, but it would be harder.

    Hope I helped =]
